Welcome One and All

Hello Everyone! Welcome to Alannah and Jason's WhittAcres Blog Page! We discovered this website through our sister Echo's Blog she created for her family. You can view their blog page by clicking on the following link: http://kennyandechomerrell.blogspot.com/.
So we thought it was a fun way to share what's current with our lives with friends and family.

Just a brief history to catch all of you up, we have been married for 13 months now and things are beginning to look good. Our first year of marriage was a tough one. After 3 months of being married, Jason broke his right index finger while working Dad Whittaker in the river up at the cabin in Mt. Pleasant. He had surgery on his finger and two metal pins inserted into his bone to help the break heal correctly.
His finger had to be in a splint and wrapped at all times, which made everyday things very difficult to do. Especially work at a job that requires the use of both hands.

Coincidently, after Jason broke his finger, and before he had his surgery, Alannah had a spill at work that resulted in torn ligaments in her right ankle. She was put in a boot and on crutches while Jason had his surgery. After numerous doctor's appointments and an MRI, it was decided that the best thing to help with the healing process was to have surgery. They removed two tendons from one of her toes to tie to the broken ligament. After her surgery, she was confined to crutches and a large cast. So with both of us laid up housework become more than just a chore. Jason was unable to get his hand wet, and Alannah was unable to stand for short periods of time. Luckily we were fortunate enough to have mothers that were willing to give us a hand. So Mom Whittaker and Mama Dawna took a few turns coming to our apartment to help with the housework. Thanks Moms.

Also during this time, Echo had her baby, 8 weeks premature. Nolan Kenneth Merrell was brought into this world on September 16, 2006. Since Alannah was still laid up from just having her surgery Jason was the only one who could go to the hospital the morning of his birth.

About a month later, despite the objections of Alannah, Jason smashed his ring finger with a rock while working in the river at the cabin. Jason hid it from everyone except his Dad and Grandpa Farnworth who were the only witnesses of the event. In November, Jason had his left hand smashed at work and was required to have an X-Ray taken of it. Come to find out, the doctor discovered that he had broken his ring finger from the accident at the cabin. Luckily it was a mild fracture and no surgery was needed, since Jason had ignored the injury and it had almost completed healing itself.

In December, a couple days before Jason's Christmas vacation, he slipped on the ice while doing snow removal at work and pulled a muscle in his lower back. After going to the ER and some heavy medication he was sent home to recuperate. After a couple of days of muscle relaxers, rest and crawling around the house on all his hands and knees, the muscle slipped back into place allowing him to enjoy Christmas with out the use of narcotics.

After New Years Eve, on January 4, 2007, Jason and Alannah were sideswiped by a man who ran a red light four blocks away from our apartment. Alannah was put on a backboard and taken by ambulance to the ER. Doctors discovered she had a compression fracture in lower back and was not able to return to work. After a few months of family medical leave and physical therapy, her job was unable to hold her job and was forced to let her go. She has recovered from her injury and has been released to return to work. Although the doctor has told us that she will likely have off and on problems with her back the rest of her life. The doctor also advised us that it would be unwise to get pregnant in the next six months to a year as it will surely cause us a great deal of problems.

On May 13, 2007 we celebrated our first year of marriage by taking a trip to Park City, Utah to stay in a condo for the weekend. We had dinner, went on a dutch oven train ride and enjoyed some shopping at the outlet malls. Thanks to Alannah's great shopping abilities and Mom Whittaker's discount card, we were able to have a fun anniversary at a minimal cost.

So after being married for 13 months we are still in love as much as we were on our wedding day, and a little bit stronger in our relationship due to the past years experiences. So please continue to stay tuned, and we will try to add more pictures and keep all of you up to speed with what's going on in our lives. Please feel free to Email us and update us with your lives. We look forward to hearing from you, and sharing some of our memories with you.

Hey you two, sounds like 365 days of joy. Here in CA we are doing fine. I just finished 18 hole of golf then I went on a bike ride to find the ball that I lost. I did find it plus one more. Now I sit here sweating like crazy. I must jump in the shower. I like your site, I'll show Marlene when she gets home.

Love
