Hello again everyone! We are proud to finally reveal the gender of our baby. It's a GIRL!! We went to UVRMC today for our 20 week check up, and during the exam, we got to see the baby's gender. It took some doing, due to the fact that our little girl is very modest. She kept her little legs crossed which made it very hard to see her girly parts. But after some determination, the tech was able to get us a few revealing pictures. You might need to click on the picture to get a better view, but we can assure you it's a hot dog bun and not a hot dog.
The ultrasound tech was thorough and did a great job checking to make sure the baby was healthy. We had some concerns due to the fact Alannah was on a couple of medications during the first month of our pregnancy. The doctors said that there had been some cases of babies born with cleft palettes, and with holes in their spines. Unfortunately the doctor told us about these dangers after we got pregnant and continued the use of the medications. The tech checked the baby from head to toe and told us the baby is perfectly healthy. We got a great look at her face, and her lip has fully formed. And her spine was beautiful and not a hole in sight. So fortunately Alannah got off the medication before it did any damage to our baby girl. Now that we have discovered the gender of our baby girl, we can start buying clothes and preparing for her big arrival. We have also been thinking about names for our new bundle of joy and we think we have found a name that we both agree on. Makenna Marie Whittaker. Makenna from Jason's mom Kenna, and Marie, from Alannah and Dawna's middle name, which comes from Alannah's Grandma Mary. So far everyone we have told loves the name as much as we do. So she will share her name with with a few of the great women in our lives.
We decided to wait til this evening to inform our families of our baby girl. We met Jason's parents Paul and Kenna at Grandma Farnworth's house to show them the movie and reveal the good news. Unfortunately Alannah had a hard time keeping this secret until then, and accidentally told Paul at KFC while we were getting a bite to eat. Dad was surprised that we now have 3 granddaughters on their way in the Whittaker family, but is very happy to be a Papa. He did a great job acting surprised when we told the grandmas. Yeah Right. Afterwards we went to Alannah's sister Tristy's house for our niece Kennedy's birthday party where we told Alannah's family. Kennedy made it a point to tell us that is just what she wanted. I guess we could have gotten away without buying her that Barbie. :)
Well, another exciting day in pregnant-hood. Thanks to all of you for checking in on us, and for being our friends and family. We love you all and will post again soon.
P.S. You might have noticed our Baby Countdown has changed to a Trip Countdown. That's because we are going to see Echo, Kenny and Nolan in 2 weeks out in Wisconsin. We are very excited and can't hardly wait.
